Phooey on summer
Ugh. I thought I was inured to English summers, but they're getting worse and worse. Maximums of 31°C over the last few days, and an overnight minimum of 21°C, and humidity that means I have to have a bath after going shopping. It looked so lovely out after a downpour this morning, but though the temperature's a bit lower it's still saturated and grumble grumble grumble. So anyway.

Shopping: bottle of Hoegaarden for cooling down with. Big pack of Chinese meals cos they were going cheep! cheep! Various fresh fruits/vegies that can be nibbled for health without effort or danger of heat exhaustion, viz clementines, grapes, bananas, snap peas.

Looked at dissertation.

I'd actually be quite happy with 31C right around now. It's been rather chilly here in my part of the northeast United States lately and I seem to live in an apartment that was converted from a Frigidaire...

Must be a bit of a security concern, not being able to shut the door. I'd like to put some of the heat in storage for the winters, when I have to sit next to the radiator all day, touching it from time to time to see if it's on.

The biggest security concern isn't so much not being able to latch the door as having to wonder whether the creaking noise is the Eccentric Roommate coming in...or a burglar.

I do wonder what'll happen in winter, though. Perhaps we'll have an ice-skating party in our living room.
